Music Monday: Bastille - Pompeii
Isn't it interesting how our world, something so solid and real and grounded, can fluctuate in scale moment by moment? Not physically of course, but rather on an intimate level.
Naturally, I'm an optimistic person. I can't help but let my mind only believe in the positive outcome. Whether that be a good thing or a bad thing, I cannot judge. I will say though that with age and experience and simply living life, I've definitely come to that internal challenge of finding something good in any situation. It's that problem solver, that hungry athlete, that shuffling designer, that "Bona Fide Drifter" mind at work.
This song is beautiful and I absolutely adore the talent of Bastille. The lyrics in Pompeii are so relatable and I hope that I too continue to ask myself "How am I gonna be an optimist about this?" because it means that precious hope is still alive and my world will stay its perfect size.
Enjoy.

Dapper Signs
The work of the hand will always trump that of the computer. As a designer, it's a constant dance between the two. I've found it difficult to convince colleagues in the other areas of advertising the importance of the hand in design. Frankly, I could care less at convincing the ones who don't understand, I just hope that those who do see the true value in it never give up creating, because it is those artists who bring beauty and originality to the world. Dapper Signs understands that value in every piece they produce.
Cooper of Dapper Signs does the fascia sign for Harry Blades and Angry Dave's (hbad.co.uk) at the Christmas Steps, Bristol. This short film shows the whole process, from sketch pad to pounce pattern to slinging paint.

My Pinterest
First day of December and it's a snowy one here in Boston. Perfect kind of day to pin! Who am I kidding? Every day is a perfect day to pin. It's true that I'm mildly obsessed with Pinterest. Ever since being invited over a year ago, I've been hooked. Initially it can be an overwhelming experience, but once you learn to edit down your feed and create unique boards of your favorite things, you won't want to stop pinning either.
So join Pinterest! If you're already a member feel free to follow me. I will see you all at the PA (Pinners Anonymous) meetings.

Daughter, "Youth"
One of my favorite songs. Today, it inspires me.
Be vulnerable. Be honest, my friends, and I promise something incredible will happen.
